Performing from 2:00 – 4:00PM
Bambi and Thumper have been around for many years and have always been a contra-dance band, playing for dances held by the North Texas Traditional Dance Society (https://www.nttds.org/) and on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/nttdsdaltx?mibextid=avESrC
In the early days of the band, it was known as Bambi in the Headlights. As time went on and band members changed, it became known as Bambi on the Grille. Most recently it has been known as Bambi and Thumper, with the Bass player representing Thumper.
While Bambi and Thumper play mainly for contra dances, they also can be heard occasionally at local festivals, such as Arts in Bloom held in April in McKinney. The current lineup includes Janis Adams (leader) on fiddle, Jim Calhoun on guitar, Kenny Failes on upright bass, Shelley Allison on accordion and spoons, Susan Mardele on concertina, Dennis Amber on mandolin and Mary Ellen Robertson on hammered dulcimer and autoharp.
